Sauk Valley Community College is inviting the community to celebrate the spring semester with a free event for their students.  If you would like to be an exhibitor on Wednesday, January 20 from 11:30 until 1:30 with over 700 people in attendance call Ana Salgado at 815-835-6432.

BOOT and SHOE (today $50.00)

Our weekly fines go towards the Boot and Shoe Fund.  Our club provides $25 coupons to all the school nurses to provide shoes for those that need them at the schools.  The money from the fines each week goes toward purchasing the shoes.  The students are given a coupon worth up to $25 at the Payless Shoe Store.  This last month we were able to help 18 kids for a total cost of $388.

WHAT.................NO WINNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The weekly pot is up to $259............make sure you buy a ticket on Tuesday.

CARING CENTER

Pastor Al Campbell presented the program this week about the Caring Center located at 210 First Avenue.  This past year they gave 221,000 articles of clothing to people in need in our communities.  People can go to the Caring Center twice a month and get 20 articles free of charge.
If you having clothing you want to donate, they are open on Monday and Wednesday mornings.  Take your articles to the back door in the alley.

Ongoing Reminders

1.  Please remember the Four-way Test when directing comments and questions to speakers and other members. a) Is it the truth? b) Is it fair to all concerned? c) Will it build good will and better friendships? d) Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

2.  Once you have your guest speaker lined up for the meeting program, please email Russ Siefken at russ@essex1.com so that it can be included in the eBulletin.  Also, please ask the speaker to stay as close as possible to the microphone when speaking.

3.  Please park at the YWCA or by Grummert's, not in a Sterling Federal Bank lot.

4.  Think of who you can invite to a meeting as a potential new member.

5.  If you have to leave early from the meeting, please apologize in advance to the speaker so that he/she does not think that you were walking out on him/her.

6.  Please sit closer to the front of the room than to the back.  And try to site with the new members whenever you can....get to know them....make them feel welcome.

7.  Whenever you host a student guest, as you are chatting with him/her over lunch, please tell them about our club.  Tell them what Rotary is all about.  Tell them what to expect during the meeting;  the opening, fun & frolic, boots & shoes, etc.   Tell him/her about local and international service projects that Rotary is involved with.   Make them feel welcome.
