Program:
Scott Porter introduced Dr. Kelly Guthrie, Medical Director of the Whiteside County Health Department.  Dr. Guthrie told us about a new program which assists those addicted to Opiods  with a medication that allows for a slow withdrawal.   She informed the group that the health department clinic is a federally funded clinic and serves all community members no matter what the payer source. 
Announcements:
  • Kevin presented Hospice with a $2000 check from District Rotary to assist with the purchase of beds for the new Hospice Home.
  • Bridge the Community Run on Sept. 16 - Area Rotary Clubs are helping - If you wish to help, contact Mike. Our time slot is 7:30 - 9am
  • Mike will pass around a form to report your community service hours so that he may report them to the district.
  • Paul shared with us the history of singing "America the Beautiful" at every meeting.  Prior to 9/11, the club sang from the Rotary songbook. Shortly after 9/11 the club decided to remember that day and honor first responders and those who perished by singing "America the Beautiful" at each meeting.
